This lens helps you see details at a distance. It is usually indicated by a (-) next to the numbers under the “sphere” category of your prescription.
"Reader" and "Intermediate" lenses have prescriptions starting with a plus ( + ) sign and are designed for those who have trouble focusing their eyes while reading. These lenses are designed to help correct farsightedness caused by hyperopia or presbyopia.
Multifocal lenses are designed to help you focus on things near and far. Abbe Glasses offers traditional bifocals and free form progressive lenses.
Spherical error, or overall power of lens is the basic part of your prescription. A (+) means you have trouble seeing near, and a (-) means you have trouble seeing things faraway.
Lens strength needed to correct your vision. Negative (-) means nearsighted, Positive (+) means farsighted.
The degree of astigmatism in your eyes, as well as an axis number that indicates the orientation of the astigmatism.
ADD stands for the additional correction that you need for reading. It’s used for bifocal or progressive lenses and readers.
Prism is used to correct diplopia (double vision). A prism bends light to align your vision so only a single image is seen.
Vertical prism correction is for vertical eye misalignments & prescribed upwards in one eye and downwards in the other.
Horizontal prism correction is for lateral eye misalignments & prescribed in the same direction for both eyes.

PD is the distance between your two pupils in millimeters. It is very important for accurately fitting your lenses to achieve visual acuity. If there is no PD on your prescription, checking with your eye doctor is recommended.
step1. Position yourself approximately 8 inches (20cm) away from a mirror or yourself arm’s length from your friend.
step2. Close your left eye and align the ruler’s zero to the center of your right pupil.
step3. Try not to move your head or the ruler. Close your right eye and note the reading directly over your left pupil. That will be your PD.
step4. you also need to measure the distance from two pupils to the center of nose respectively to make sure that if you have two PDs(OD & OS).
